The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) has announced that access to the Ninho da Manta viewpoint will be completely closed for maintenance on August 19th and 20th, 2026 (Wednesday and Thursday). The PR1 Vereda do Areeiro trail itself, leading to Pico Ruivo, will remain open, but you will miss out on one of its iconic views. If possible, plan your hike for a different day.
