Proč vznikl projekt Madeira Journey? Na Madeiře je toho 1000x víc než jen PR1 nebo 25 Fontes! Většina lidí míří pořád na stejná místa. Proč? Protože to viděli na sociálních sítích. Protože neví, kam jinam vyrazit, jaké tam bude počasí nebo nemají jistotu, že je trasa otevřená a stojí za to. Web Madeira Journey vznikl jako odpověď Chci cestovatelům nabídnout: Ověřené a aktuální informace o všech trasách na Madeiře Přesné popisy, mapy, GPX soubory a praktické tipy Upozornění na uzávěry, varování a aktuální počasí Trasy mimo davy – bez front a turistických špiček Upřímný průvodce bez marketingových floskulí Realitu, ne pohledy z dronu, které na místě na vlastní oči nikdy nezažijete Madeiru znám líp než vlastní botySvět jsem projel křížem krážem, ale právě Madeira mi přirostla k srdci natolik, že se sem už roky pravidelně vracím. Tohle místo má duši. Drsnou, zelenou, magickou. A zaslouží si nástroj, který cestovatelům ukáže víc než jen pár přetížených „instagram spotů“. Co tím sleduju? Chci rozprostřít turistický ruch po ostrově, aby si lidé užili Madeiru naplno – nejen pár přetížených míst, ale i trasy, které zůstávají neprávem opomíjené. Ostrov tak zůstane autentičtější, zdravější a příjemnější jak pro místní, tak pro návštěvníky. Chci snížit dopravní zácpy a přetížení na populárních lokalitách. Místa jako 25 Fontes, Pico do Areeiro nebo Ponta de São Lourenço často čelí náporu, který jim škodí. Ukázáním alternativních tras a správným načasováním výletů pomůžeme zmírnit tlak na infrastrukturu a nervy turistů. Chci ulevit přírodě. Madeira je křehký ekosystém. Když se stovky lidí...

The combination of Levada do Moinho and Levada Nova is my absolute favorite afternoon walk in Madeira. I've done it at least five times and it never gets old. In about 3 hours of easy walking (8 km), you'll get stunning valley views with ocean vistas, walk directly under a waterfall, and the only climb you'll face is a ten-minute transition between two levadas on well-maintained steps. It's simply the perfect trail when you want something beautiful without completely exhausting yourself. Southern location bonus: while it's raining in the north of the island, the sun usually shines here. And that waterfall on Levada Nova? That's the moment that will make you want to come back again and again.

Kombinace levád do Moinho a Nova je moje oblíbená odpolední procházka na Madeiře. Šel jsem ji minimálně pětkrát a pořád mě baví. Za zhruba 3 hodiny pohodové chůze (8 km) získáte nádherné výhledy do údolí s pohledem na oceán, projdete přímo pod vodopádem a jediné stoupání, které vás čeká, je desetiminutový přechod mezi dvěma levádami po upravených schodech. Je to prostě ideální trasa, když chcete něco krásného, ale nechcete se úplně zničit. Bonus jižní lokace: zatímco na severu ostrova prší, tady většinou svítí slunce. A ten vodopád na Levada Nova? To je moment, kvůli kterému se sem budete chtít vrátit znovu a znovu.

The Levada do Caldeirão Verde is one of Madeira's most popular trails – which is both its greatest curse and blessing. Arrive on a Saturday morning like we did, and you'll face a tourist procession that turns what should be a meditative walk through laurel forest into frustrating queue management. But hit the right timing (before 9:00 or after 4:00 PM), and you'll get one of the island's most beautiful levadas practically to yourself. Over 13 kilometers, you'll encounter tunnels with living roots hanging from the ceiling, fairy-tale forest covered in moss, narrow ledges carved into rock faces, and finally a tall waterfall plunging into a rocky cauldron. The trail is technically easy, even kids can manage it, but you'll appreciate sturdy shoes with good grip on exposed sections and a headlamp for the dark tunnels. We made every possible timing mistake – which is exactly why we now know how to do it better next time.

Levada do Caldeirão Verde patří k nejpopulárnějším trasám na Madeiře. To je její největší prokletí i požehnání zároveň. Když sem dorazíte v sobotu dopoledne jako my, čeká vás procesí turistů a z meditační procházky vavřínovým lesem se stane frustrující čekání v koloně. Ale když trefíte správný čas (před 9:00 nebo po 16:00), dostanete jednu z nejkrásnějších levád ostrova prakticky jen pro sebe. Na 13 kilometrech vás čekají tunely s živými kořeny visícími ze stropu, mechem porostlý pohádkový les, úzké římsy vysekané ve skále a na konci vysoký vodopád padající do skalního kotle. Trasa je technicky jednoduchá, zvládnou ji i děti, ale v exponovaných místech oceníte pevné boty s gripem a čelovku do tmavých tunelů. My jsme udělali všechny možné chyby v timingu – proto teď víme přesně, jak to příště udělat lépe.

A ano, na konci na vás čeká pořádný místní bar. Co dělá tuhle trasu výjimečnou? Je snadno dostupná, blízko Funchalu, ideální pro pochybné počasí, kdy jsou hory promočené, a přesto vám dá ten autentický levádový zážitek s právě tou správnou dávkou technické pikantnosti, aby to zůstalo vzrušující. Žádné davy, žádná povolení, jen vy, banány a vážně impozantní inženýrství vytesané do skalní stěny.

Kdo říká, že pro trail musíte nutně do lesa? My tedy rozhodně ne. Madeira je levádami tak hustě protkána, že se s námi můžete na jednu vydat v naprostém klidu i přímo v hlavním městě Funchalu. Je to ideální odpolední procházka - ať už jste unaveni z náročnějších treků, které jste podnikli v jiných dnech své dovolené, nebo hledáte lehčí alternativu, pokud cestujete s dětmi či nejste zrovna zdatní turisté. Je to leváda víceméně taková, jak ji znáte - cesta klikatící se podél vodního toku, tentokrát však nad pomyslnými hlavami města Funchal. Nemine nás ani trocha převýšení - součástí trasy je totiž i výšlap na horu Pico da Cruz. Nebojte se, není vysoká, ale přesto vám nabídne krásný výhled na Funchal a jeho blízké okolí.

Tato trasa na první, a možná i na druhý pohled vypadá naprosto šíleně. Hlavně když stojíte u moře v Paul do Mar a koukáte na skalní štíty nad vámi. Tam někde může vést cesta? Tam ze zhora jsme skutečně přišli? Kroutíte hlavou. A ano, vede! Je to dokonce moc pěkná a příjemná procházka, která sice působí šíleně, ale když ji projdete, zjistíte, že o žádný extrémní trek nešlo. Pokud se nebojíte výšek, užijete si tuhle trasu a výhledy na oceán i domečky pod vámi na maximum. Pokud taková místa na Madeiře naopak vyhledáváte, tato trasa by na vašem seznamu rozhodně neměla chybět.

Leváda do Rei patří mezi ty, které ukazují Madeiru v její nejdivočejší a nejpřirozenější podobě, aniž by vás přitom nutila šplhat do výšek nebo přelézat balvany. Trail vedoucí částečně po známější trase PR10. Zavede vás ale i na méně známou cestu lesem a tím tvoří okruh, takže je celá trasa krásně rozmanitá a nemáte šanci se na ní nudit. Na cestě nesmí chybět zastávka na vyhlídkovém místě, odkud si prohlédnete jedinečnou dominantu tyčící se vedle města Porto da Cruz - horu Penha de Águia. Na trase PR10 už přece jen pár dalších turistů potkáte, přesto není nijak výrazně vytížená jako jiné trasy a můžete si zde poklidně užívat přírodu a voňavý les. Po návratu můžete svou cestu zakončit návštěvou Porto da Cruz.

This is a beautiful full-day trail that won't give you anything for free. Right from the start, you'll be asking yourself if it's worth it. The beginning is actually the toughest part, when you're full of energy but have to climb countless stairs. They're nicely wide but they go straight uphill. Once you reach the top though, the trail reveals all its beauty in full glory. From then on, you just admire the views, take photos, and enjoy the stunning scenery of surrounding hills, rocks, and valleys. That's what PR 1. 3 is like. Once you branch off from it, you'll walk through a valley, cross over a mountain pass, and climb almost to the top of Grande peak. Those who have extra energy can still make the final push to the summit. The rest of the way is just relaxed hiking - you slowly descend and look forward to the local restaurant at both the finish and starting point of the route.

Krásný celodenní trail, který vám nic nedá zadarmo. Už na startu se budete ptát sami sebe, jestli vám to za to stojí. Právě start je tou nejnáročnější částí, kdy plni energii musíte nastoupat nepočítaně schodů. Ty jsou příjemně široké ale vedou do kopce. Jakmile se ale dostanete na vrchol, trail vám odhalí veškerou svou krásu v plné parádě. A pak už se jen kocháte, fotíte a užíváte si kýčovitých výhledů na okolní kopce, skály a údolí. Taková je PR 1. 3. Jakmile se z ní odpojíte, projdete údolím, zhoupnete se sedlem a vystoupáte skoro k vrcholu Grande. Ti co mají energie na zbyt si na něj můžou ještě vystoupat. Zbytek cesty už jen na pohodu, pomalu klesáte a těšíte se do místní hospůdky v cíli i startu cesty
