  • What this means: The route has two branches. Only the western trail through the tunnels is open. The eastern, more challenging path via Pico das Torres, is closed. Therefore, it is not possible to complete a loop.
  • Recommendation: You can only get to Pico Ruivo and back via the same western path. Remember that an online reservation and fee payment are required to access paid hiking trails (including PR1). Checks are frequent.
